Dodge/RCH Racing - Race Recap - Monster Energy Cup - Las Vegas

TICKLE FINISHES SEVENTH IN MONSTER ENERGY CUP EVENT IN LAS VEGAS

Ricky Carmichael-Designed Circuit Big Hit With Sellout Crowd
October 20, 2013 , Las Vegas -  The final chapter of the 2013 AMA Supercross Series was written Saturday here at Sam Boyd Stadium with RCH Racing’s Broc Tickle scoring a seventh-place overall finish in the Monster Energy Cup event. Tickle had finishes of 10-8-9 in the three 10-lap Main Events.

A sellout crowd witnessed incredible racing on the unique and very fast track designed by RCH Racing owner Ricky Carmichael. James Stewart used two wins in the three events to claim overall honors and a $100,000 payday.

“I’m really happy with how I rode tonight,” said Tickle. “We’ve been working hard on our bike’s setup and the Suzuki really felt good. I feel like I’m finding speed in my bike. To come to Las Vegas and score a top 10 and ride as solid as I did feels pretty cool.

“Tonight was all about race start(s) with how fast the track was. The track was awesome. I felt that I rode really well.”

In the first Main Event, Tickle started 10th but had dropped to 16th after the first circuit. He gained four positions on Lap 2 and cracked the top-10 by the time he crossed the start-finish line a lap later. The Michigan native lost two positions on the final two laps to finish 10th on the No. 20 Suzuki.

“I didn’t have the greatest start (16th after Lap 1) and had to battle my way through the field.” Tickle said. “I was pushing hard with two laps to go and made a little mistake, lost a couple of spots and finished 10th.”

Tickle rebounded in the second Main Event with a solid eighth-place finish. He broke 14th when the gate dropped but rocketed his way up to eighth by Lap 2 and held the position the final eight circuits.

In the nightcap race, Tickle broke from the gate 12th but had vaulted inside the top 10 by Lap 3. Tickle found himself in a three-rider battle for position midrace and won the battle to claim seventh at the halfway mark. He lost two positions over the final two laps to finish ninth.

“I’m excited to get back on the bike the next month and see how much progress we’re making,” said Tickle. “We’re making really solid changes on the bike and it’s cool to see the results. I’m not sure the last time I’ve felt this good on the seat.”

The Monster Energy AMA Supercross returns to action next January with the season-opening race in Anaheim.
