Statement: Autonomous Vehicle Technology

January 14, 2016 , Auburn Hills, Mich. -  "Our engineers are actively exploring autonomous-vehicle technology and its implications. For strategic reasons, we don’t discuss future product plans. However, we currently offer several automated driver-assist features, such as our sensor-fusion forward collision warning systems.** These activities help demonstrate our commitment to advancing the development of autonomous-vehicle technology."
– Michael Dahl, Head of Vehicle Safety and Regulatory Compliance, FCA US LLC.

** FCA US LLC vehicles are equipped with forward collision warning systems that blend radar and camera technologies to identify potential impact scenarios. This strategy was once reserved for high-end luxury vehicles. Before such systems activate their automated braking features, the two technologies must agree that an impact may be imminent. This affords greater precision. No mainstream automaker currently offers Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) in more segments (five) than FCA US. This year's launch of the all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan will mark the sixth segment in which the Company makes this feature available. The arrival of the Pacifica and the all-new 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia sport sedan will be the ninth and 10th FCA US vehicles to offer sensor-fusion-enabled AEB.
