Rarely have vehicles created a new segment, stood the test of time and become so much a part of so many Canadian families as the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country. The Windsor, Ontario-built minivans officially celebrate their 30th anniversary on November 3, 2013. To commemorate the milestone anniversary, The Chrysler Foundation partnered with Canstruction®, an international organization dedicated to raising awareness of hunger and poverty issues. A life-size replica of a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan was built in Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square, made entirely out of packaged food products.

Chrysler Group LLC rang in the New Year taking the sales lead in the segment it created back in 1983. Dodge Grand Caravan was the best-selling minivan in the United States in 2012 with 141,648 units sold, a 28 percent increase from 2011. America’s most awarded minivan, the refined Chrysler Town & Country, also saw a significant 18 percent increase in sales to 111,744 units. The Chrysler Group sold a combined total of 253,392 minivans, which accounts for almost half of the entire minivan segment’s sales in the United States in 2012.

For the 2013 calendar year, the Dodge Grand Caravan minivan, Durango seven-seat SUV and Journey mid-size crossover join the Challenger, Charger and Avenger to complete the Dodge brand’s offering of sinister-looking Blacktop packages.

Chrysler Group minivan customers can now get the latest minivan innovation from the company that invented the segment. Arriving in dealerships now on the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country is the new dual-screen Blu-Ray DVD rear-seat entertainment system. This system plays both Blu-Ray and standard DVDs, and has standard higher-resolution screens for the 2013 model year.

Chrysler Group LLC is recalling 299,718 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans to replace the Occupant Restraint Control (ORC) modules. The ORC modules may have been exposed to moisture and could eventually experience an illumination of the airbag light with the potential for an inadvertent airbag deployment.

Chrysler Group LLC announced today it is bringing back the 60-day “Minivan Pledge” to launch Minivan Month. The pledge allows consumers purchasing a new 2011 Chrysler Town & Country or Dodge Grand Caravan minivan during April to return the vehicle, no questions asked, within 60 days. In addition to the pledge, consumers can choose $750 in Customer Cash or attractive financing as low as 2.9 percent for 60 months.
