October 7, 2016 , Washington, D.C. -  FCA US LLC and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) hosted the “2016 Advancing Safety through Data Conference” on Oct. 6, providing an opportunity for 15 major global automakers, including FCA US, to discuss, learn about and share current approaches on proactively and systematically analyzing data.

“While vehicles are safer than they’ve ever been, we can make them even safer by working together to identify potential problems earlier,” said Adrian Lund, President of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. “If we keep our focus on data in all areas of traffic safety, we can move closer to a day when no one is killed in a motor vehicle crash.”

More than 100 automotive professionals, representing the world’s major automakers, participated in a full-day industry conference at the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel in Washington, D.C. Representatives from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the National Safety Council (NSC) also were in attendance.

“We all have a stake in enhancing safety and our industry has put great effort and has made sizeable advancements in vehicle safety, and yet we still have much work to do,” said Mike Dahl, Vice President and Head of Vehicle Safety and Regulatory Compliance, FCA – North America. “Collaboration on safety is the right thing to do for our customers.”

FCA US also shared insights into the Company’s proactive sensing concepts with the future goal of building an industryinfrastructure around data analytics. FCA US data analytics experts discussed their lessons learned during the development of their proactive sensing programs.

FCA US organized the industry conference as part of the Company’s continued commitment to a proactive vehicle safety culture.
