Engine Cooling Systems Laboratory

  • The 70-square-metre Engine Cooling Systems Laboratory was established at the Automotive Research and Development Centre (ARDC) in 2015.

  • The laboratory is a collaborative effort between the Engine Cooling Systems Product Engineering team and Aero-thermal System Simulation team.

  • The purpose of the laboratory is to evaluate pressure and flow characteristics, across variable cooling system design paths, for multiple vehicle platforms.

  • Data collected through all plumbing branches and heat exchangers is used to optimize the engine cooling system design prior to vehicle design completion.

  • In addition, the data collected is also used to develop simulation tools to better predict engine cooling system performance on future programs.
