May 3, 2016 , Windsor, Ontario -  FCA Canada today reported a total of 30,108 vehicles sold in April 2016, representing a 10 per cent increase compared with April 2015 sales of 27,473. Through the first four months of this year FCA Canada has sold 92,939 vehicles, representing the best start to a year on record and positions FCA Canada as the top-selling auto maker in the country.

“We are off to the best sales start in our history,” said Dave Buckingham, Chief Operating Officer, FCA Canada. “Jeep and Ram brands set April sales records but the real star of the month was Dodge Grand Caravan, with a 76 per cent year-over-year sales increase. We remain well-positioned to welcome the all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica to Canadian showrooms in May.”

Sales Highlights:
The Jeep brand posted a monthly sales record in April 2016 with 9,040 units sold, which is an increase of 21 per cent compared with 7,486 units sold in April 2015.  Two Jeep brand products set monthly sales records. Jeep Cherokee experienced its best April ever with 3,118 copies sold, marking an increase of 15 per cent over 2,720 units sold in April of 2015. Posting an 88 per cent increase in year-over-year results, 1,960 Jeep Grand Cherokee sales led to a monthly record for Canada’s best-selling full-size SUV.

The Ram brand reported 9,380 sales last month, marking an increase of 13 per cent over 8,322 units sold in April 2015. These results represent a monthly sales record for the brand. Looking specifically at Ram pickup truck sales within the full Ram brand line-up, there were 8,805 sold in April 2016, compared with 7,950 in April 2015. These results represent an 11 per cent increase and mark an April sales record.

Recently, Popular Mechanics magazine recognized the 2016 Ram Truck line in its annual Automotive Excellence Awards in the May issue. Compared to all other full-size pickups, the Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 offerings had the best combination of technology, performance and value. Ram was the winner in the “Best Truck” category and, according to the article: “Top to bottom, this is the model to beat.” The editors go on to say, “The Ram is the only pickup with a ZF-designed eight-speed automatic transmission, a device so manifestly excellent that Rolls-Royce and Range Rover put the same in their cars, too. That transmission can be bolted to a satisfying 305-hp V-6, a beastly HEMI® V-8, or a 3.0-litre diesel, the only small diesel you can get in a full-size truck.”

Dodge Grand Caravan saw a sales increase of 76 per cent in April 2016 with 6,368 units sold, compared with 3,618 sold in April 2015. These results earn the popular minivan an all-time monthly sales record. The Dodge Grand Caravan is built at the Windsor Assembly Plant alongside the all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, which is now starting to ship to retailers throughout Canada.

The all-new Chrysler Pacifica is the ultimate family vehicle, exceeding the wants and needs of the modern parent. The Pacifica provides unparalleled versatility, innovative entertainment and technology features, and unsurpassed safety features, which are attributes valued by families to meet the demand of their active lifestyles.
